Region 3, 6, 7 Younger Member Group Contacts/Chairs/Presidents and CYM Corresponding Members:

Please see below for an interesting opportunity for young engineers to be involved with a new program on MTV (of all things). The people in charge of casting found the Met Section (New York) YMG contact and he asked to share the info around the country. The casting call is in the attachment, too.

Share the information as you see fit (the deadline is Feb. 2) and if it sounds like something you'd like to do - good luck! Let us know if we need to watch for you on TV!

Hi Arthur,

That's great - thank you for your help with this!

We've extended the deadline for entries so here is a new version of the casting call. We're looking for students and recent grads. The age range that we're suggesting is 19-25 but we don't want to discount any applicants that would be a great fit for the show, so all recent grads are more than welcome. In fact, since the series would require a time commitment, recent grads may work better, so as not to interfere with studies. We're hoping to shoot the demo next month and then the series in the summer but none of that has been finalized just yet.

If there's any more info needed, please let me know.

Thanks again Arthur,

Sylvie

Hi Arthur,

I got your email from the ASCE website. I hope you might be able to help me out or point me in the right direction.

I'm with Peace Point Entertainment Group, a Production Company in Toronto, and we're producing a new series with MTV USA and looking to cast Engineering students from across the country. At the moment we're just trying to get the word out and post a casting call. I'm wondering if you think there is a way to get the word out to students through ASCE? I'm contacting schools individually as well but we're trying to get the word out quickly to as many students as possible so I'm exploring all options. If you have any advice it would be so greatly appreciated. Below in bold is the post:

Engineers for MTV:
New MTV series "Hack'd" is looking for engineering students/grads, 19-24 years old, to form teams and compete to out-hack each other with creative feats of engineering.

Applicants must submit the following:

PART 1: Bio and Rez
Short bio giving us a sense of your personality and why you'd be great for the show. Send resume and bio to info at peacepoint.tv<mailto:info at peacepoint.tv> and receive a unique login to post your video on the Hack'd casting FTP site.

PART 2: Mini Hack on Video
Showcase yourself and friends planning and executing a small scale mini-hack. Show off your engineering knowledge, creativity and sense of humor. Play to camera.

PART 3: About Yourself
To camera, tell us who you are and what you're about. We're looking for smart, funny, nerdy, sexy... just show us your personality. Videos 5 minutes MAX!

** Get your login early so you don't miss the submission deadline to post your video.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Mon, Feb 2nd, Midnight EST. Get on it, we want to see how fast you can whip something up!

If you have any advice as to where this could be posted or if you would like to pass it along to any of your student members, please let me know. If you do happen to forward it, please do not include my email, just the one in the ad - info at peacepoint.tv<mailto:info at peacepoint.tv>

Also, if there is any more information that you need about the series, our company etc. I would be happy to provide it.

Many thanks and hope to hear from you soon,

Sylvie
