Hi,

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and didn't eat too much turkey.

Past Event:

The football watch party on Nov. 20 with the OSU student chapter was a
lot of fun. 6 student members joined 6 Younger Members for pizza and a
Buckeyes win over Iowa.

Upcoming Event:

The Younger Members Group is co-sponsoring the Section's December
meeting on Dec. 16. Instead of the usual luncheon, this meeting will be
a dinner and will be held at the Zoo! It should be fun to learn about
the new polar bear exhibit and also take in the seasonal zoo lights.
Below is the flier information with details for registering.

Thanks!

AJ Smith

Jennifer Frommer, P.E. served as the Client Liaison for the installation
of the new water treatment equipment to supply water to several systems
including the Polar Bear exhibit at the Columbus Zoo. The polar bear
project was a fast track project requiring close coordination with the
Zoo's staff. The new habitat for the twin polar bears is designed to
look like an Alaskan mining town. The bears are now getting used to
their new habitat, a 1.32 acre space equipped with two pools, shelters
and pits for digging. The larger 67,000 gallon pool allows visitors to
view the bears from above and below the tank. A second pool has an
artificial tidal effect with various depths and moving water, simulating
their natural habitat. The Zoo allocated $20 million for the polar bear
exhibit project, dubbed The Polar Frontier.
