We've extended the deadline for entries so here is a new version of the casting call. We're looking for students and recent grads. The age range that we're suggesting is 19-25 but we don't want to discount any applicants that would be a great fit for the show, so all recent grads are more than welcome. In fact, since the series would require a time commitment, recent grads may work better, so as not to interfere with studies. We're hoping to shoot the demo next month and then the series in the summer but none of that has been finalized just yet. If there's any more info needed, please let me know. I'm with Peace Point Entertainment Group, a Production Company in Toronto, and we're producing a new series with MTV USA and looking to cast Engineering students from across the country. At the moment we're just trying to get the word out and post a casting call. I'm wondering if you think there is a way to get the word out to students through ASCE? I'm contacting schools individually as well but we're trying to get the word out quickly to as many students as possible so I'm exploring all options. If you have any advice it would be so greatly appreciated. Below in bold is the post: Engineers for MTV: New MTV series "Hack'd" is looking for engineering students/grads, 19-24 years old, to form teams and compete to out-hack each other with creative feats of engineering. Applicants must submit the following: PART 1: Bio and Rez Short bio giving us a sense of your personality and why you'd be great for the show. Send resume and bio to info at peacepoint.tv and receive a unique login to post your video on the Hack'd casting FTP site. PART 2: Mini Hack on Video Showcase yourself and friends planning and executing a small scale mini-hack. Show off your engineering knowledge, creativity and sense of humor. Play to camera. If you do happen to forward it, please do not include my email, just the one in the ad - info at peacepoint.tv Also, if there is any more information that you need about the series, our company etc. I would be happy to provide it. The Committee on Younger Members (CYM) publishes this newsletter three times per year in an effort to keep Younger Members apprised of successful events, upcoming activities, award deadlines, and contact information. We also include Student Members on our distribution list as our way of illustrating the potential resources Younger Members provide to students and encouraging their involvement in Younger Member activities, both now and after graduation. One of the primary functions of CYM is to ease the transition of Student Members into the mainstream of ASCE. Most of you should be able to access the Younger Member Newsletter by using Adobe Acrobat Reader* with the click of your mouse at http://www.asce.org/inside/files/pdf/issue67.pdf; however, if you should experience any problems, please feel free to contact Nancy Berson at nberson at asce.org. Wayne Jones, PE - Senior Regional Engineer for the Asphalt Institute Topic: Warm Mix Asphalt The asphalt industry has started using a new technology call Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA). WMA started in Europe, but its use is rapidly expanding here in the U.S. There are several processes that allow the manufacture, transporting, and installation of asphalt mixtures from 50?F to 100?F cooler than traditional temperatures. One of the technologies even allows the mixture to be placed below 212?F. When the temperature is lowered that much, a whole host of environmental and construction benefits become a reality, such as lower fuel and energy usage, less greenhouse gases, longer paving seasons, and better performing pavements. Menu: Choices are Roast Prime Rib, Baked Chicken, or Vegetarian Lasagna (please indicate your menu choice when registering) Cost: $20 - Members and Guests $15 - Life Members $10 - Students Reservations: Please email (or phone in) reservations and menu selection to Julie Pickering at Julie.Pickering at Stantec.com or (614) 486-4383 by 3 PM on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Thanksgiving is here and I am looking forward to gun season next week. I hope you and your family have a great thanksgiving. What I am writing about is I received a note from our accounting that we have not received payment for Applications 12 ($4,000), 15 ($2,950), and 16 ($7,100) for the Wastewater Collection and Distribution System Project (GSD 501-2004-168). This puzzled me because you indicated in your October 19, 2009 e-mail to me that these had been processed. Is there any problems that you are aware of that would have held these payments up? Your help with this is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bob Robert C.
