The plant enriched uranium from 1954 until 2001. Fluor-Babcock & Wilcox (FBP) under the supervision of the DOE started the process of the demolition and remediation of the remaining structures including the gaseous diffusion process buildings and remaining support facilities. The use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) has played a critical role since the beginning of the remediation and Decontamination and Decommissioning (D&D) part of the project. This presentation will give an overview of the challenges to implement and develop an enterprise GIS that can serve the environmental/remediation, engineering and maintenance groups. Furthermore it will show the current use and future implementations of geospatial technologies at the site to achieve a more integrated GIS. This presentation will also show how data sharing/standardization are playing a key role at the site. Hamey Structural Project Manager, Thorson Baker & Associates, Inc Design of building structures involves numerous steps, and within each step there are various ways to accomplish the entire task that are required to complete the step. This presentation is intended to be an introductory walk through of the design of a building using the OSU CBEC complex as a case study. The CBEC project is a great learning tool, encompassing numerous types of structural systems that interface with one another, as well as highly rigid design criteria, advanced architectural features requiring unique support systems, and highly congested mechanical systems and lab equipment that also require structural support. The presentation will cover the three main areas of any building project, pre-design where the designer is required to gather all building requirements such as code loading, owner specifications, etc., building design phase in which the pre-design information is applied to the building systems and the macro structure and details are designed, and construction administration during which the design reviews submittals, RFI's, inspection reports, and conducts observations of the project under construction. Wednesday, March 6, 2013 - 11:10 a.m. Scott Lab E0245 Host: Hojjat Adeli (phone: 614 292-7929) Dr. Hamey received B.S. in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University in 2002 and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from University of Akron in 2003 and 2007, respectively. Since joining THORSON BAKER & Associates, Inc. (TBA) in 2007 as an EIT, he has received his PE license and assumed the role of Structural Project Manager. Cole's project experience with TBA includes commercial and educational projects. Cole has been the lead engineering on multiple Revit projects, as well as multiple projects that are vibration sensitive . ______________________________ Michael H Navabi, PE, D.WRE, BCEE, FASCE Senior Project Manager [cid:image001.jpg at 01CE18D7.BDE1F320] 3000 Corporate Exchange Dr. | Suite 600| Columbus | OH 43231 Tel: 614-839-0250 Fax: 614-839-0251 Cell: 614-634-2274 MNavabi at PrimeEng.com www.primeeng.com -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
