Final Notice


Drafting the most recent version of the City of Columbus Department of Public Utilities wastewater treatment solids master plan incorporated a customized state-of-the-art material flow computer model populated with detailed operational data from the City's WWTPs.  Numerous combinations of biosolids treatment and distribution scenarios were examined and comparatively rated for the economic, energy and emissions attributes of each.

The result of this investigation galvanized the case for DPU to further increase the beneficial uses of biosolids, supporting Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman's "Get Green Columbus" goals of reducing energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions of City facilities and diverting City byproducts from the waste stream.  Thus, where previous master plans had referred to solids disposal, this latest version has been aptly titled the City of Columbus Solids Treatment and Utilization Master Plan (STUMP).
