Order of the Engineer Ceremony

Date & Time:
Sun, 04/13/2014 - 3:00pm
Location:
Ohio Union, 1739 N High St, Columbus, OH ‎

The Order of the Engineer (www.order-of-the-engineer.org) is an organization created to promote a spirit of pride and responsibility in the engineering profession. There are no meeting to attend or dues to pay. Instead, Order of the Engineer members foster a unity of purpose by honoring a lifelong pledge to "uphold devotion to the standards and dignity of the engineering profession." Members are given a stainless steel ring which they are encouraged to wear on the small finger of the working hand as a reminder of their obligations. There is a one-time fee of $12 associated with the ceremony and lifetime membership in the order.

While this induction ceremony is focused on graduating students, all degreed engineers are eligible to join the Order of the Engineer, no matter when you graduated.

If you are interested in joining, please fill out the form found at go.osu.edu/orderoftheengineer. Please print the form and deliver it, along with your $12 payment (cash or a check made out to Tau Beta Pi,) in a sealed envelope to Hitchcock 244. Please submit your form by Friday, April 4th at 5:00 pm. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at OrderofTheEngineerOSU@gmail.com

This semester's ceremony will be held in the Interfaith Prayer and Reflection Room in the Union on Sunday, April 13. It will begin at 3:00 pm and last approximately one hour. There will be a small reception with refreshments after the ceremony.

For undergraduates, there is no GPA requirement to join the Order; however, they must graduate during the Spring or Summer semester of 2014 to take part in this spring's ceremony. Please encourage students to participate.
