Every year, the Asphalt Institute hosts a series of seminars based on our MS-22 Manual, "Principles of Quality Hot Mix Asphalt Pavement Construction." This year, we are bringing the seminar back to the State of Ohio after a lengthy hiatus with an offering, on October 22, 2012. The seminar will be taught at the Colas USA's Training Facility, located at 7374 Main Street, Cincinnati, Ohio. (Colas was recently listed at No. 7 on the ENR's Top Transportation Contractors.)

Our seminar focuses on the basics of quality asphalt pavement construction:
1) Inspection
2) Asphalt Materials
3) Aggregate Materials and Mix Design
4) Asphalt Mix Designs
5) Asphalt Plants
6) Paving Overview and Best Practices
7) Compaction Overview and Best Practices
8) Quality Control/Quality Assurance

The class offers experienced instructors, that allow plenty of time to ask questions, 7 PDH's, a hot lunch, continental breakfast, morning and afternoon breaks, and a copy of AI's MS-22 "Construction of Hot Mix Asphalt Pavements," a $65 manual if it were purchased separately. The registration fee is only $195. The informational flyer regarding the seminar can be used to register by mail, or individuals can register online at:

This is a great opportunity for the Ohio ASCE members to not only gain knowledge about asphalt materials and construction, but earn valuable PDH's as well.
