December Luncheon Meeting

Topic: LEED Practices on Ohio School Facilities Commission (OSFC) Projects

The Ohio State School for the Blind (OSSB) and Ohio School for the Deaf (OSD) are preparing for a $43 million dollar facelift. Built in the 1950's on a former golf course, the two schools are separated by a conservation district that surrounds the stretch of Bill Moose Run from Indianola to High Street. The proposed new work for the campus includes 127,000 square feet of new academic buildings, 44,000 square feet of new student housing, a proposed bridge connecting the campuses, bioswales and native plantings at each site, sensory garden at OSSB and dedicated alumni garden at OSD, all while attempting to maintaining as much of the existing mature landscape as possible.

Come listen to the design team discuss the challenges of this unique site as we strive to design a LEED Gold project. Special focus of the presentation will be LEED and Site Sustainable Practices, working with the Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District and goals of good water quality design, as well as changes to the LEED program (AP+ program, new LEED programs, highlighting changes to site sustainability credits).

Menu: Chicken Verde (sautéed chicken with spinach and an Asiago cream sauce) with potato or rice, tossed salad, vegetables and dessert. CPD Hours: A certificate for one (1) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hour will be issued at the conclusion of the program.

Please note: Registration is limited for this event. Late registrations and walk-ins may not be accepted.
