Civil Engineering Career Day - 2009

The Central Ohio Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), The Ohio State University, and Ohio University are sponsoring a "Civil Engineering Career Day". The purpose of the program is to expose high school juniors to the profession in hopes that they may consider civil engineering as a career. In the past, the program has received national recognition from ASCE for the excellent exposure that the students and community receive as part of the program. This year the program will take place April 21, 2009.

The schedule attached below explains the days events which consist of a welcome reception at The Ohio State University Department of Civil Engineering, two tours relating to different aspects of civil engineering and a luncheon at the Buckeye Hall of Fame Café, which will feature speakers from the Civil Engineering Departments from The Ohio State University and Ohio University. The students will be transported by bus to the different tours and lunch. There is no cost to the school or student. Students must arrange for their own transportation to and from OSU.

Since the number of participants is limited by the size of the bus, reservations will be on a first come basis. Please respond by April 14, 2009. The event will happen rain or shine. Students will need to dress appropriately, including pants (no shorts) and hard sole, closed toe shoes. Students without appropriate dress attire will not be permitted to participate. Hard hats will be provided for the requiring tours. Permission slips are attached below for students to fill out. Any student without a signed slip will not be permitted to participate. A map is also attached showing the location of Hitchcock Hall on OSU campus. Students should park in the Tuttle Parking Garage. Parking passes will be provided at registration.
