A succesful Career Day in 2009!

Career day was a success! We ended up with right around 50 students. The day was chilly and windy, but we managed to miss the rain for the most part. Dr. Merry and Dr. McAvoy gave great presentations and the students were asking good questions. Thanks to Beth Meek for organizing it all.

As announced on December 9, 2008, the following individuals, shown in alphabetical order, have submitted a letter of intent to seek the nomination for the office of President-elect as defined in the Society’s Bylaws.

The Society’s goal for the election is to provide a fair and impartial framework affording Nominees with equal opportunity to promote their qualifications and ensure an informed electorate while shielding members from unwanted intrusions.

Midwest Traffic Data Workshop Preliminary Program Available

Co-sponsored by ASCE Central Ohio, the Midwest Traffic Data Workshop: Successful Strategies in the Collection and Analysis of Data Preliminary Program is available online at www.TRB.org/conferences/2008/TrafficMidwest. The workshop, targeted at a Midwestern audience, will bring together those producing and using traffic data. The program is oriented to sharing experiences, approaches and challenges among the public agencies.

The Early Bird deadline when fees increase $50 is now about 5 weeks away.

Nominations for the 2008 Ohio OCEA Award

Ohio Council is seeking nominations for the 2008 Ohio Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award. All firms in Ohio are invited to nominate projects for the OCEA Award.

The award is given annually to a Civil Engineering project, not an individual or firm, to recognize the contribution of the many engineers who have worked on the project.
