Letter from the President

Central Ohio Section Members,

ASCE’s 2013 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure

Report Card for America’s Infrastructure

Every family and business needs infrastructure to thrive– from your road to work, to your internet, to the pipes bringing clean water to your house. In a new app format, the American Society of Civil Engineers’ 2013 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure puts the most comprehensive and clear reference available on America’s infrastructure in your pocket. Complete with videos, state profiles, and interactive content, this app shows how your state’s infrastructure is doing and what needs attention.

ASCE at the national level is developing information, advice and processes for the local sections and branches to bring ASCE members up to date on sustainability in CE projects, a sort of toolkit for sustainable design concepts (see website referenced above). I am working with the national ASCE committee on communication aspects of sustainable engineering to assist in this effort.

We then took the students to the OSU Olentangy River Wetland Park where we were given an impromptu talk from Dr. Mitsch.

I wanted to start off by thanking the Ohio State University and the Ohio University ASCE student chapters for planning and presenting at the April dinner meeting at the Ohio Student Union. It was nice to hear that both student chapters participate in civil engineering activities throughout the year and receive support from the faculty and professional advisors.
